Traditional rigid PCBs are based on glass fiber reinforced materials such as FR4, which provide them with stable mechanical support. Flexible PCBs use polymer materials such as polyimide (PI) and polyester (PET), which allow them to bend, fold and even curl freely. Compared with traditional rigid PCBs, flexible PCBs have shown many significant advantages: light and thin with high density, excellent dynamic adaptability, simplified connection and wiring, and excellent seismic resistance. However, the design and manufacture of flexible PCBs also face many challenges, such as material stability, signal integrity maintenance, and stress concentration. Therefore, a careful design strategy is particularly critical to ensure the performance of flexible PCBs.
